This means that the system is on selection mode. Simply move the mouse on top of the drawing with the objective of selecting where the oil thread is going to be applied. A preview is shown highlighting the line where it will be made. This purple line is longer than the part itself because the oil tool movement requires a synchronized motion with the spindle. This is the normal situation and the default situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until the user does not left click the mouse, it remains on &#8220;selection mode&#8221; and another line can be selected. During this period the textboxes on the left are unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4) Confirm selection<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>By left clicking the mouse while a preview line is displayed, it will mean that the line is going to be selected. After it the mouse will enter the normal state (not selection mode) and the textboxes are filled with the relevant information. Parameters are explained below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Name<\/td><td>Description<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Start<\/td><td>X (diameter) and Z coordinates of the start of the thread movement made by the machine. It matches the preview line.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>End<\/td><td>X (diameter) and Z coordinates of the end of the thread movement made by the machine. It matches the preview line.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>D<\/td><td><strong>D<\/strong>epth of the oil thread (radius). In this case 0.28 would be the oil thread depth made by the tool.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>P<\/td><td><strong>P<\/strong>itch of the thread, in mm. In this case one full revolution of the spindle will correspond to 30mm movement in Z<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>N<\/td><td><strong>N<\/strong>umber of thread starts. In this case 4 oil threads will be made on the part<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When all is accordingly to the user request, press the accept button (green arrow) and the software will registered the oil thread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than one oil thread can be added per profile and the current oil thread can be edited by pressing the down arrow next to the oil thread information. The colour helps to identify what operation it is related.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"272\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fastseal.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1904\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tooling selection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The tooling selection is automatic and it should be made by one of the already selecting tools that machined the outside (if the thread is outside).
